SMART BANKING WITH ZERO CHARGES

03 Jul 2012 5:46 PM | Hot Guy (Administrator)

I was banking with one of the three biggest commercial banks in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA since 2007. Since I have a direct deposit of my monthly pension to my checking account, the bank offered me the following freebies: (1) no minimum balance, (2) unlimited free check writing, (3) debit card, (4) free 250 checks for 12 months but with US$5.95 shipping charges for each check re-order, (5) free online bill payment, (6) free email alerts, and (7) free monthly printed bank statements.

In May 2012, the bank sent me a notice that the monthly minimum daily balance will be increased from zero to US$1,000.00. Otherwise, I will be charged a monthly service charge of US$10.00. This new bank policy was bad for me because I will not be able to use the US$1,000. Instead, the bank will be using the money without paying me interest income.

Bank Smartly with Wells Fargo Bank

I started searching for the other two big commercial banks in Las Vegas, Nevada. In June 2012, I went to Wells Fargo Bank and applied for the Wells Fargo Bank's Way2SaveChecking and Way2SaveSavings Package. I was happy with my new banking service because these are the services and privileges I got:

  • Opening deposit of just US$100 for the Way2SaveChecking account and US$25 for the Way2SaveSavings account
  • Free online account access
  • Free online bill payment
  • Free platinum debit card
  • No monthly minimum daily balance with my direct monthly deposit
  • No monthly service charges because I opted for online bank statements
  • Free account alerts (like if there is a withdrawal of more than US$1.00 from my checking and savings accounts)
  • Free 250 checks every 12 months with no shipping charges
  • With 6,000 Wells Fargo Bank locations in USA
  • With 12,000 Wells Fargo Bank ATM machines in USA

Smart Savings

With the transfer of my checking account to Wells Fargo Bank, I am enjoying the following savings:

  • US$5.95 a year for free shipping charges for the annual free 250 checks
  • US$52.80 a year for the stamps for using online bill payment service
  • I can use the $1,000 unlike if I just leave the amount in my previous bank checking account.
  • Gasoline and time for not mailing any checks to my creditors at the local post office
  • No reconciliation of paid/canceled checks with my check register
  • Easy and anytime reconciliation of my online bank account with my check register at the comfort of my home.
  • With overdraft protection and link of my checking account to my savings account.

How to Apply

Visit the Wells Fargo Bank website and read all the available information or go to any Wells Fargo Bank office and inquire from the bank customer service.

You need to bring US$100 as initial deposit for your Way2SaveChecking account and another US$25 for your Way2SaveSavings account, driver's license with your picture and your Social Security number.

So if you have a problem with your current bank or you are not satisfied with the services, you may want to visit the nearest full-service Wells Fargo Bank in your area to avail some of the free services and products. Good luck!
